Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating. This is my first time posting! FUN TIMES.
Where the Stars Still Shine by Trish Doller
Release Date: September 24, 2013
Stolen as a child from her large and loving family, and on the run with her mom for more than ten years, Callie has only the barest idea of what normal life might be like. She's never had a home, never gone to school, and has gotten most of her meals from laundromat vending machines. Her dreams are haunted by memories she’d like to forget completely. But when Callie’s mom is finally arrested for kidnapping her, and Callie’s real dad whisks her back to what would have been her life, in a small town in Florida, Callie must find a way to leave the past behind. She must learn to be part of a family. And she must believe that love--even with someone who seems an improbable choice--is more than just a possibility.
Trish Doller writes incredibly real teens, and this searing story of love, betrayal, and how not to lose your mind will resonate with readers who want their stories gritty and utterly true.
"Trish Doller writes strong, gutsy characters that you can't help caring for and Callie is no exception. Her journey is heartbreaking and powerful." —Melina Marchetta, Printz Award winning author of Jellicoe Road
I've heard a few people say great things about this book, and I'm definitely looking forward to having some intense contemporary to read this fall. Plus, that Melina Marchetta quote? *dies* What book are you waiting on?

I've been reading more contemporary YA lately (I usually read dystopian or paranormal) and this one sounds really good--intense, but not depressing. Great pick! ~Pam
ReplyDeleteThis is one I'm waiting for as well!

Jess @ Such A Novel Idea
This one sounds great. I follow a lot of missing person/missing kids cases on different true crime websites, so it will be interesting to read a (fictional) account of what happens when one returns home.
ReplyDeleteJenna @ Rather Be Reading YA
I read this about a month or so ago and it is fantastic. Great pick!

Ohh, I can't wait for this one either. I only wish I could read it now... Great pick! :)
ReplyDeleteOh this sounds like an emotional one. Love the cover and the idea of starting all over with a new family. I've read a few books with the same theme. They are never an easy read, but worth it, always. I haven't read Trish Doller, but this sounds like one I'm going to want to try! Thanks for sharing!
